Jill to Cohost Television Show Kari on MainStreet

Jill just completed a television shoot where she climbed The Lost Wall at Pigeon Mountain in Northwest Georgia. She was asked to co-host the video show Kari on MainStreet (featured on Charter Cable Systems in Tennessee, Georgia and Kentucky) and put her rock climbing skills to the test. Jill had this to say about the experience: "There were times when I was standing on a ledge the mere width of a penny. It was scary, but awesome. I think it took me about 15 minutes to climb up the face of the rock wall, but I'm not sure since I was concentrating on not looking down. What an adrenaline rush!"

The Lost Wall is located in the extreme Northwest Georgia, about 1/2 way between Atlanta, GA, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. It's nearest to the town of Lafayette, Georgia. The cliff, with 80-foot walls, is aptly named because it is barely visible from the road in the valley.

Kari on MainStreet with co-host Jill King is scheduled to air in early August. We will update this notice when the exact week is known.  The Charter Cable channels for various communities throughout the region on which this show appears include

Hand Painting in Lamar Makes a Name For Jill

On July 5th Jill performed in Lamar, Colorado, at Freedom Fest. As a promotion, sponsoring radio station KVAY invited participating artists to stick their hands in paint and then place them on a large piece of paper and autograph the paper.

Deryl Dodd (Lucky Dog Records), who was also on the bill to perform that evening, took the stage immediately after Jill. He applauded her by exclaiming, "Wasn't Kim great?!"

Jill promptly stuck her hands in the paint, marched back on stage and planted her paint-dripping hands on his Wrangler covered-behind. It's a pretty good bet Deryl won't forget Jill's name again!

"I've been delighted at discovering superb indie artists before, but Jill King made me shoot out of my chair. A hell of a country voice, one hell of a country production, terrific musicianship, and material to die for. Jillbilly is what modern country should sound like."--Craig Baguley, Country Music People

Dude, Whereıs My Car?

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (April 23, 2003)--Country Music crooner Jill King (Blue Diamond Records) knew that pursuing her dream to become a successful Country Music artist would be a long road. And although her current single, "One Mississippi" is catching on like wildfire over radio airwaves across the board, it looks like she'll be walking down that road--at least for a little while.

When Jill began her adventure of becoming a country music artist, she made the decision to travel that long and winding road in a reliable vehicle. So, she purchased a Mitsubishi Galant from a local dealership. At the very same time Jill was scheduled to be locked away in the studio to record her debut album, she began to experience some car trouble. She returned the Galant to dealership service department where they discovered a mechanical problem with the transmission. Being a "pricey" repair, Jill elected to hold off on making the investment--for the time being. In the meantime, she made arrangements with the head of the service department to leave the vehicle there on the service lot until after she had completed her recording project.

Jill's momentum as an up 'n coming artist hastened. She wrapped up in the studio, released her album and began her radio promotional tour immediately. All the while keeping her car payments current and checking in with the head of the service department from time to time to ascertain her car was still safe and secure. Or at least that's what she understood. When in fact, somewhere along the way, a coworker (unaware of Jillıs arrangement with service manager) at the dealership had come to his own conclusion that Jillıs car had been abandoned. So, he had it towed.

When Jill returned from her radio promotion tour, she received a call from the towing company to tell her her car had been sold.

"One great thing about being on tour," says Jill, "is that someone else drives me, so I guess I really donıt need a car right now. Iıll just cross that road when I come to it."

Jillıs debut album, Jillbilly, is in stores now. Her current single, "One Mississippi," is at No. 23 on the Music Row Chart.

Jill King Parties On "Old Man River"

Nashville, TENNESSEE (February 5, 2003)--Jill King (Blue Diamond Records) is on a roll. She is releasing her first ever music video to correspond with her hit single, "One Mississippi," from her debut album, Jillbilly.

The video was shot in November in Pensacola, Florida on Escambia Bay, the closest thing to the Mississippi River.

The performance video is staged on a river barge. The cast and crew consisted of a tug boat captain, local dancers and musicians who turned the barge into a "floatinı juke joint."

The forces of nature presented some problems- between the cold temperatures and the wind.

"Going up and down the river, with the wind blowing, nearly did us in," said Jill. "Not only did it present a timing problem because the wind was effecting the sound, but the lighting technician lost a reflector over the side of the barge even though it was weighted down with sand bags."

Jill personally experienced some of the technical difficulties when one of the lights exploded behind her, shooting off shards of glass. The cameras stopped rolling so she could pick the glass out of her hair.

According to Jill, the challenges brought on by mother nature were worth it. "The final edit for the video is amazing. I think all the components, from the music to the location to the atmosphere, really showcase this song!"

"One Mississippi" is moving up the Music Row chart, currently at No. 43, and Jillıs album, Jillbilly, will hit shelves March 18.

Jill King Song: Champion of Country Dance

Just three days after announcing the release of her debut album, Jillbilly, and corresponding single, "One Mississippi," Jill King (Blue Diamond Records) didn't miss a beat.

King's track, " Hand Me Down Heartache," was selected as the official triple-2 step competition song for the 11th Annual World's Championship of Country Dance, held at the Opryland Hotel, Nashville, December 31, 2002-January 6, 2003. The competition is sponsored by The United Country Western Dance Council (UCWDC).

"Our first priority is to provide our dancers with great music." BJ Brown, UCWDC Music Director, says. "'Hand Me Down Heartache' has a good steady beat. It made me want to get up and dance."

During the course of the week, Jill performed for the competitors and had the opportunity to be part of the New Year's Eve line-up along with T Graham Brown.

This year's World's Championship competition featured competitors from 19 countries and included 7,500 dance entries. Throughout the year there are 60 qualifying competitions held around the globe.

"I would be thrilled to have Jill back at any event throughout the year. She not only has good music to listen to, but it's great to dance to as well," said BJ Brown.
